The owner is choosing an agency and wants to know what happens after the request

How long does it take to get a commercial insurance quote?

After you ask Redoubt for a commercial auto quote, no fixed time applies; the first reply says what can bind now, what needs the carrier, and what to send. As of October 12, 2026, Redoubt's site states no response time. Three sourced things set it: what the policy is written on, which ISO's CA 00 01 11 20 ties to the Named Insured and the autos described in the declarations; for a new operating authority, the insurer's filing within 20 days of the FMCSA Register notice under 49 CFR 365.109T; and Utah Code 31A-21-102, under which a binder lasts until the policy issues or 150 days, longer only with the insurance commissioner's written approval or under the commissioner's rules.

What happens when you request a commercial insurance quote?

After a commercial auto quote request, Redoubt's first reply says what can be bound now, what needs the carrier, and what to send back. Redoubt states that reply in those words as of October 12, 2026, and sets out the work around it in three steps, in this order:

  • Understand the business: Redoubt says "We start with the work you do, the contracts or filings involved, and the deadline in front of you."
  • Compare options: Redoubt says that as an independent agency it helps evaluate available coverage and carrier options for the actual operation.
  • Place coverage: Redoubt says it helps coordinate binding, certificates, filings, and the follow-up needed after the policy is active.

Who will contact you after a quote request, and can it be by text instead of phone calls?

A commercial auto quote request to Redoubt can go by text, and Redoubt itself sends the first reply. Redoubt's commercial auto guide says "We will say what can be bound now, what needs the carrier, and what to send back," asks the owner to text the paperwork "with the vehicles and the date you need it by," and ends every page with a text button and a call button side by side.

Redoubt's site, as of October 12, 2026, names no individual who answers a quote request. For trucking accounts Redoubt promises "One call, one agent, no runaround."

What happens after you get an insurance quote and send the application?

Under Utah Code 31A-21-302(3), a commercial auto application the insurer is still considering is insurance in the course of processing, not yet accepted or rejected. The subsection says insurance "is in the course of processing if an application has been made for it which is being considered by the insurer, even though it has not yet been accepted or rejected," in a provision that bars knowingly collecting premium for insurance not in that stage.

Utah Code 31A-21-105 governs what the application carries. Subsection (1)(a) says no statement by a person representing the insurer in negotiating an individual insurance contract affects the insurer's obligations "unless it is stated in the policy or in a written application signed by the applicant," and subsection (4) says "Failure to correct within a reasonable time any representation that becomes incorrect because of changes in circumstances is misrepresentation, not nondisclosure."

What makes a commercial insurance quote take longer?

Each item on a Redoubt quote request corresponds to a document the policy or FMCSA works from, and the table sets out what each document says.

What is a commercial auto insurance binder, and when does coverage start?

Under Utah Code 31A-21-102, vehicle liability coverage can be bound by a binder, by a binding oral contract, or by the policy itself. Subsection (1) defines a binder as "a writing which describes the subject and amount of insurance and temporarily binds insurance coverage pending the issuance of an insurance policy." Subsection (2) allows binding oral contracts for vehicle liability insurance and says "The insurer shall issue a policy or binder as soon as reasonably possible after negotiation of any oral contract under this subsection."

A Utah binder runs until its policy issues or for 150 days, whichever comes first, under Utah Code 31A-21-102(3). Subsection (4) allows a binder with no policy issued to be extended or renewed beyond 150 days only with the insurance commissioner's written approval or under the commissioner's rules.

ISO's CA 00 01 11 20 business auto form covers "accidents" and "losses" occurring "During the policy period shown in the Declarations" and within the coverage territory, so an accident before the policy period on the declarations is outside the form.

A business applying for operating authority has a filing clock set by FMCSA. FMCSA's filing page, last updated March 26, 2026, says "a financial responsibility provider must file the appropriate insurance form(s) on behalf of the applicant," and 49 CFR 365.109T(a)(5) sets that filing "within 20 days from the date an application notice is published in the FMCSA Register."

What should you send with a commercial auto quote request, and what happens next?

A commercial auto quote request to Redoubt goes by text and carries the six items below, including the vehicles and the date cover is needed. The first reply is a conversation about what can be bound now, what needs the carrier, and what is still to send.

  • Business legal name, entity type and primary business address
  • Each vehicle and trailer: year, make, model, body type and value
  • Every driver: name, date of birth, licence number and class

“identification, size, commodity information, and safety record, including the safety rating (if any), a roadside out-of-service inspection summary, and crash information.”
safer.fmcsa.dot.gov, accessed October 12, 2026. The sentence opens "The Company Snapshot is a concise electronic record of a company's"; the page serves the apostrophe as a broken character, so the quote starts after it.

Talk to Redoubt

Your quote request starts with one list by text

Text Redoubt the business's legal name, entity type and address, the year, make, model, body type and value of each vehicle and trailer, every driver's name, date of birth and licence number, your current declarations page or prior coverage dates, your USDOT and MC or docket numbers if you have them, a paragraph on what the business does, the date cover has to start and whose card the first payment comes from, and we will talk through what can be bound now and what still needs the carrier.

This is general insurance information, not legal advice or a coverage determination. The policy forms, the endorsements the carrier issues, and the requirement in writing from whoever is asking control.
